🇫🇷 Le football portugais est en deuil. Manu, ancien joueur du Benfica et d’Alverca, est décédé samedi à l’âge de 43 ans des suites d’un accident de la route dans la localité de Vermões, dans le concelho de Sobral de Monte Agraço. Il circulait seul dans son véhicule quand le drame s’est produit.
Le Benfica a confirmé la nouvelle sur ses canaux officiels, rendant hommage à un joueur qui avait porté le maillot des Águias lors de la saison 2006/07, disputant 17 matchs. Le club d’Alverca, où Manu avait fait ses débuts professionnels et évolué pendant deux saisons et demie, a également rendu un vibrant hommage à celui qui avait grandi dans ses rangs.
Né à Setúbal, l’ancien ailier a eu une carrière riche et internationale, passant notamment par Estrela da Amadora, le Marítimo, le Beijing Guoan en Chine, et plusieurs clubs en Italie, en Grèce, à Chypre et en Pologne, avant de terminer sa carrière au Vilafranquense.
🇬🇧 Portuguese football is in mourning. Manu, a former player for Benfica and Alverca, passed away on Saturday at the age of 43 following a road accident in the village of Vermões, in the municipality of Sobral de Monte Agraço. He was alone in his vehicle when the accident occurred.
Benfica confirmed the news on their official channels, paying tribute to a player who had worn the Eagles’ shirt during the 2006/07 season, making 17 appearances. Alverca, where Manu made his professional debut and spent two and a half seasons, also paid warm tribute to the man who had grown up through their ranks.
Born in Setúbal, the former winger enjoyed a rich international career, playing for Estrela da Amadora, Marítimo, Beijing Guoan in China, and several clubs in Italy, Greece, Cyprus and Poland, before ending his career at Vilafranquense.
