🇬🇧 Olhão: 3 Tonnes of Cocaine Seized, Suspects Flee on Foot
🇫🇷 La Garde nationale républicaine (GNR) a saisi environ trois tonnes de cocaïne dans la région d’Olhão, dans l’Algarve. L’opération a été déclenchée après que le système intégré de surveillance côtière (SIVICC) a détecté une embarcation rapide suspecte au large des côtes.
Des moyens terrestres, maritimes et aériens ont été mobilisés. Sur une route menant à une plage proche, les patrouilles ont repéré un véhicule utilitaire léger — type couramment utilisé pour la distribution terrestre de stupéfiants débarqués par voie maritime. Les occupants ont abandonné le véhicule et pris la fuite à pied. Ils n’ont pas encore été arrêtés.
Au total, les autorités ont saisi 91 ballots de cocaïne pour un poids estimé à 3 130 kilos, un véhicule et deux brouilleurs de signal. L’opération a bénéficié du renfort des militaires du Commandement territorial de Faro.
🇬🇧 The Republican National Guard (GNR) has seized approximately three tonnes of cocaine in the Olhão area of the Algarve. The operation was triggered after the integrated coastal surveillance system (SIVICC) detected a suspicious high-speed vessel offshore.
Land, sea and air resources were deployed. During patrol, officers spotted a light goods vehicle on a road leading to a nearby beach — a type commonly used for the onshore distribution of drugs brought in by sea. The occupants abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot and have not yet been arrested.
In total, authorities seized 91 bales of cocaine weighing an estimated 3,130 kilos, one vehicle and two signal jammers. The operation was backed by reinforcements from the Faro Territorial Command.
